M: Have you ever been lonely?
Amah: I wouldn’t call it lonely. It’s part of the process of life.
It’s been a while since I’ve cried watching a movie
Amah: I have a problem with the day after Chinese New Year. When the leftovers from the night before are in the fridge and I know I have to eat them alone.
M’s relationship with his grandmother was beautifully developed
It depicts nuances of family relationships and mortality that I can surprisingly relate to. I enjoyed the quiet moments, the moments when they laughed together and grew closer.
I really enjoyed the acting and cinematography, and the background music that accompanied the scenes
The story was written to highlight the importance of loving and caring for parents and relatives without being pretentious. I really liked the ending and it was nice to see the whole family visiting Ah Ma’s grave during Qing Ming.
