Chronology

Chloé Abrahams’ feature debut, The Taste of Mango, is an immersive, hypnotic, and deeply personal meditation on family, memory, identity, violence, and love. At the center of the film are three extraordinary women: the director’s mother, Rozana; his grandmother, Jean; and the director herself. Their stories, sometimes difficult and sometimes joyful, speak to the complex and ever-changing nature of inheritance and how we hurt and protect those we love.
