Chronology
A grieving therapist begins telling his clients exactly what he thinks
Ignoring his training and his ethics, he finds himself making big changes in people’s lives — including his own. The cast of ‘Shrinking’ share the key moments that defined their characters in Season 1, and reveal who did the best Harrison Ford impression. They wanted a “Harrison Ford type,” and wanted to audition people who resembled Ford.
In the end, Goldstein talked to Ford and convinced him to take the role
Segel told Goldstein they had to at least bring it to Ford first, thinking he would turn it down outright, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, sparking interest from other big-name actors. Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but was thrilled nonetheless. Currently two episodes out and this series is showing promise, the chemistry between the characters is infectious and even weird at times…
it’s heartwarming in a way that most series aren’t, merely evoking the show community for those elements
. . I’m not sure if this reflects the way a therapist deals with issues, but it certainly leaves room for Jason Segel to give his own interpretation.
Harrison Ford plays Dr
Rhodes, Jason’s boss and a mentor of sorts. I wasn’t sure how his character would work in this series, but the antisocial likeness of Rhodes certainly plays a part in the persona Ford nails quite well, thinking of the more troubled elements of his character Han Solo in Star Wars, it just fits this series like a glove. Somehow all too sympathetic, Sean (Luke Tennie) plays a sort of son to Jimmy (Segel) while he deals with his own family issues with his daughter Alice (Lukita Maxwell)…
And the music in this show is so good
What I’m seeing here feels so alive and the possibilities maybe(?) endless as I watch Jimmy navigate through these things. By the way, the intro theme to this show is so good that I didn’t even skip it when I watched the second episode… All in all, it turned out to be a wonderful show and I hope it only gets better from here on out.
